Freddrick Douglass born in February of 1818
"This Fourth of July is yours, not mine". Held
at Rochester's Corinthian Hall, on July 5, 1852, Douglass gave a
speech at an event commemorating the signing of the Declaration of
Independence, It was biting oratory, in which the speaker told his
audience, "This Fourth of July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice, I must mourn." And he asked them, "Do you mean, citizens, to mock me, by asking me to speak to-day?"
"What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a
day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the
gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him,
your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license;
your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sound of rejoicing are
empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants brass fronted
impudence; your shout of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your
prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanks-givings, with all your
religious parade and solemnity, are to him, mere bombast, fraud,
deception, impiety, and hypocrisy -- a thin veil to cover up crimes
which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the
earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people
of the United States, at this very hour." -Freddrick Douglass

2 Chronicles 6:36-39 "When
they sin against You (for there is no man who does not sin) and You are
angry with them and deliver them to an enemy, so that they take them
away captive to a land far off or near(slavery),-and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, 'We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly';-if
they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the
land of their captivity, where they have been taken captive, and pray
toward their land which You have given to their fathers and the city
which You have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for Your
name,-then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their petitions, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you. 2 Chronicles 7:14 ...if
my people (Israel), who are called by my name, will humble themselves
and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I
hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Leviticus 26:39-46 Those
of you who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies
because of their sins; also because of their fathers' sins they will
waste away.-"'But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their
fathers--their treachery against ME and their hostility toward ME,-which
made ME hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their
enemies--then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay
for their sin,-I will remember my covenant with Jacob(Israel) and my
covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember
the land.-For the land will be deserted by them(Israel) and will enjoy
its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them(Israel). They will pay
for their sins because they rejected MY laws and abhorred MY decrees(commandments).-Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies,
I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely,
breaking MY covenant with them. I am the Most High their Yah.-But for
their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I
brought out of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their Yah. Yah
the Most High.'"-These are the decrees(commandments), the laws and the regulations that the Most High established on Mount Sinai between Himself and the Israelites through Moses.
